Fatal Stopped Tesla Model 3 Crash with Reported Active Driver Assistance on I-4
A 43-year-old Deltona man died on October 6, 2025 after his stopped Tesla Model 3 was struck by a tractor-trailer in a live traffic lane of Interstate 4 near Lake Mary, Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol could not explain why the car was stopped. A later match to Tesla’s NHTSA filing indicates driver assistance was engaged, but the exact system, reason for stopping and causal fault remain unresolved.
